Toyota announced on June 14th that 52,000 orders for this new model were logged in the Month of May alone. That is over 17 times Toyota’s sales target of 3,000 per month.
Even with production slated to be increased to 5,000 per month by the end of the summer, this is still going to create a huge backlog, such that anyone ordering now is probably going to be wondering just how far into next summer it will be before they see their new car.
Despite Toyota’s assurances, this will surely impact the US and European launches for this model.
